Ruth Marilynn Irene Allison

Ruth Marilynn Irene Allison

Ruth Marilynn Irene Allison, 92, of Denton, passed away Monday December 7, 2009 at home in Denton.

Mrs. Allison was born on June 9, 1917 in Royal Oak, Michigan to Herman and Florence (Weeks) Randolph. She served as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Nurse Corps during WWII. She was married to Eugene Allison. They spent the next 20 years traveling the world with the United States Air Force. She was a member of Tioga United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday December 10, 2009 at the Tioga United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Marilynn and Raul Smith of Tioga TX, Carolyn and Tom Smith of Mammoth Lakes CA, Janice and Mike Sullivan of Bakersfield, CA; son, William and Edna Allison of Temecula, CA. She is survived by 6 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

Herbert Clifford McWhorter, 89, funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. John Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at the Collinsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from

6 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Herbert passed away on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009 at his home in Denton.

He was born on July 20, 1920 near Collinsville to Robert Arthur McWhorter and Eliza Cleveland (Bruce) McWhorter. Herbert graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1938 and Texas A&M University in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Captain in the China, India, Burma, Theatres during WW II.

Herbert married Florence Eleanor Gilbert on Jan. 5, 1948 in Sulphur, Kentucky. He enjoyed a career for the Army Corps of Engineers as an Agricultural Economist. While living in Collinsville, he served on the city council. Herbert loved softball, playing it into his eighties. He and Eleanor loved dancing at the VFW. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor McWhorter of Denton; 3 sons, John A. McWhorter of Denton, James N. McWhorter of Denton, and Joseph E. McWhorter of Tioga; a daughter, Janet F. Havens of Denton; a sister, Ella Veach Moran of Franklin, Tennessee; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Wade, J.V. and Bob McWhorter; and a sister, Faye Blassingame.

Carolyn Watson Bigelow

In loving memory of Carolyn Watson Bigelow, 55.

After fighting a long and brave battle with cancer, Carolyn was called to return home to her Heavenly Father on the early morning of Sunday, December 6, 2009.

Carolyn was born on March 14, 1954 in Cedar City, UT. She graduated from Southern Utah University in 1976 with a RN. She was married to the love of her life in 1977. She later had 2 children with her husband and decided to become a full-time mom.

Carolyn was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served both Stake and Ward calling through out her life. Her favorite calling was leading the primary children in singing. She loved to sing and lead anyone who was willing to follow. She always said, “If you can’t sing then make a joyful noise.” Carolyn loved all children and the children adored her. Besides loving to sing, she loved to laugh and joke around. She always started to tell jokes but simply forgot the punch lines. She loved most people and loved you even more if you loved her.

She is survived by her husband Eddy P. Bigelow and daughter Nicole L. Bigelow, both of Ponder, TX; two brothers, Ralph E. Watson, Cedar City, UT and Kenneth W. Watson of Salt Lake City, UT. She is preceded in death in death by her son, Zachary Phillip and her parents, Woodrow and LaRue Watson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2009, 7p.m. at the Denton 3rd Ward Church, 1801 Malone Dr., Denton, TX. Burial service will be held Thursday, December 10th, 2009, 1 p.m. at the 3rd Parowan Ward Church, 295 N Main, Parowan, UT.
