Betty Pope

Betty Pope, 82, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009 at her home in Clinton, MS.

She was born in Brookhaven, MS, March 9, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Pope. Survivors include her brother, Bradley Pope of Clinton, MS and a sister, Mrs. Johnnie Pope Foster of Brandon, MS.

Betty was a former Music Librarian at North Texas State University.After her retirement, she continued to live in Denton and taught piano in her home for many years.

Before coming to Denton, she received a music degree at William Carey College in Hattiesburg, MS, taught music at Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland, GA., received a degree in Library Science at New Orleans Baptist Seminary, and taught music at Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home in Monroe, La. In 2001, she moved to Clinton, MS where she was active in the First Baptist Church there.

Services were held at the Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Clinton, MS. Graveside services were in Brookhaven, MS.

Because of her love of missions and missionary acquaintances, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at any Baptist Church. 

 

 

Ruth Boutwell

Ruth Boutwell, 85, of Denton passed away December 22, 2009 at Lake Forest Good Samaritan Health Care Center.

Ruth was born June 22, 1924 in Ladonia, Texas to John and May )Wells) Stephenson.On February 14, 1947 she married Ray Boutwell in Hunt County, Texas.She was a Bookkeeper for Acme Brick, the City of Denton, and Neblett Insurance.She was preceded in death by her husband, paents, brother, Jack, and sister, Sarah Rose.She is survived by a sister, Carolyn Stephenson of Wolfe City, Texas and the Derv and Wanda Hudgens extended family that she adopted.

Visitation will be at the Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home,705 N. Locust, Denton on Saturday, December 26,2009from 9 to 10 a.m.Services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Wolfe City.Internment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Patrick “Pat” Neal Dillehay

Patrick “Pat” Neal Dillehay

Patrick “Pat” Neal Dillehay, 53, of Sanger passed away Monday, December 21, 2009 at his residence after a long battle with cancer.He was born August 8, 1956 in Dallas, Texas.Pat married Sherry Dyer Dillehay on October 15, 1976 in Coppell, Texas. Pat was a self-employed electrical contractor and worked in the electrical field for 37 years. He was a wonderful husband, father, and friend and enjoyed a lasting relationship with Jesus Christ.

A casual memorial Celebration of Life will be held at the Elks Lodge at 910 W. Chapman in Sanger, Texas 76226 on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at 2:00 p.m.In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.

Pat is survived by his wife Sherry Dyer Dillehay; children, Rachael Dillehay, Stacy Dillow, Jake Dillehay and wife Crystal, DeAna West and Julie McNeese; and grandchildren, Sarah Dillow, Josh Dillow, Tyson Crawford, Amber Potter, Madison Potter and Nicole Potter.

He is preceded in death by his parents Powell Dillehay and Yvonne McCall.
