Hugh M. Mixon
Hugh M. Mixon, 93, of Denton, died Friday, April 4, 2008, at Longmeadow Care Center in Justin. Arrangements are pending with the Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home.
Grace G. Hall
Grace G. Hall, 94, of Denton passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton. She was born July 1, 1913 in Georgia to Hugh and Lucy Watson Griffin. She married Thomas Hall in 1933 in Denton. He preceded her in death on October 31, 1971. She graduated from TSTC (NTSU) and taught first grade at Stonewall Jackson Elementary School. She was a resident of Denton for over 90 years, a member of First Presbyterian Church, caregiver to friends, church school teacher, volunteered for the Food Center and was a member of the Faculty Wives at NTSU.
Graveside services will be Monday, April 7, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Steve Nilmeier officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Cole Sullivan, Jacob Merriman, Ken Warren, Bob Storrie and John Curry.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Reneau of Tulsa OK; son, John R. Hall of Alvin; 2 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Doyle Griffin, Owen Griffin and Worth Griffin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 1800 Malone, Denton, Texas 76210.
Billy Joe Coffey
Billy Joe Coffey, 70, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2008, at his home after a long illness. Billy was born November 23, 1937, to Dalton Coffey and Alma Lee Jeffcoat Coffey on the family farm in Aubrey, Texas and graduated from Pilot Point High School in 1955. He married Joyce Marie Berend on July 20, 1957 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Pilot Point, Texas and they celebrated their 50th anniversary this past July. Billy retired from Lone Star Gas, now Atmos Energy, after 45 years of service. In addition, he was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Denton for 50 years. Billy was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4771, holding many offices including the office of Grand Knight and District Deputy of this region. As a charter member of the L.W. MacKenna Assembly, Billy helped establish the third and fourth degrees.
He is survived by his loving family, wife, Joyce and his three children, Janet and husband Jimmy Knight of Krum; Kevin Coffey and wife Diane of Aubrey; Dana McBride and fiancé Paul Sachs, also of Aubrey. Five grandsons also survive him, Myles Knight of Lubbock, Texas; Devron, Dalton and Dylan Coffey of Aubrey; Egan McBride of Aubrey; and two future granddaughters, Erika and Lindsay Sachs of Lubbock, Texas. Billy was preceded in death by his parents and only sibling, Leon Coffey.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Home on Sunday, April 6, 2008, with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. and a time to visit afterwards. A funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2255 N. Bonnie Brae in Denton, Texas on Monday, April 7, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Father James Flynn officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.

James Grant Laird
James Grant Laird, 84, of Corinth passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008 at his residence. He was born June 25, 1923 in Ashtabula, OH to Harry and Betsy Smith Laird. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WW II. He married Louise Green on July 14, 1951 in Ashtabula, OH. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2001. He was a self-employed mason contractor and was a member of the Lake Cities United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 7, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at Lake Cities United Methodist Church with Dr. William LaBarr officiating.
He is survived by his daughters, Cindy Dean of MS; Sandy Deaderick of Hickory Creek; Liz Johnson of Corinth; son, Allan Laird of Richardson; sister, Jean Alexander of Forfar Scotland; brother, Harry Laird of Painesville OH; 5 grandchildren and expecting a great grandchild.

LaVerne Moseley
LaVerne Moseley, age 79, a longtime resident of Lewisville, passed away peacefully on her birthday, Friday, April 4, 2008, at her home after a year-long battle with cancer. She was a devoted and inspiring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was happiest when surrounded by her loving family. She led a life that exemplified the Proverbs 31 woman and found strength in the Lord and joy in her family, her home and her many artistic hobbies.
She was born April 4, 1929 in Denton, Texas to Jesse Burl Curry and Willie Jewel Bridges Curry. LaVerne married K.B. Moseley, Jr. who preceded her in death on May 2, 1975. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Lewisville.
She is survived by her children, Dottie Husers of Corinth, Debbie Knox of Haslet, Danna Ryan of Lewisville, Darrell Moseley of Bartonville and Darla Hinchey of Corinth; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and sisters, Wanda McElroy of Gladewater, Texas and Allagene Caudle of Ft. Worth.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Lewisville. Interment will follow at Old Hall Cemetery. Reverend Kenneth Wells and Reverend Paul Sackett will officiate the service. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. Lois Patterson
Lois Patterson of Denton passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin P. Patterson, and youngest son Charlie Keith Patterson.
She was born June 14, 1914 in Coleman OK. Her parents were J.W. Shannon and Maggie Dickey. She married her husband, Marvin on October 18, 1941.
She worked as a press hand in the dry cleaning business in Stamford and Denton for many years, and was a loving mother, homemaker, and caregiver who will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Shirley Peterson and husband Kelly of Valley View, and Pam Cromeens and husband Phil of Dallas, four sons, Johnny Shannon of North Richland Hills, Eugene Patterson of Haltom City, Gerald Patterson of Haltom City, Mike and wife Debbie Patterson of Denton; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home at 210 Ferguson St. Stamford, Texas. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. the service will begin at 2 p.m.
Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Stamford.
