Arthur D. Haas

Arthur D. Haas, 85, of Denton, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2008 at his residence. Services are pending with Denton Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Mary Margaret Strickland

Mary Margaret Strickland, 79, of Denton passed away Wednesday,

July 2, 2008 in Denton at her home.  She was born April 18, 1929 in Prosper to Hobert and Delia Williams Seals.  She married James Strickland in McKinney in 1945.  He preceded her in death.  She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. 

Graveside service will be Saturday, July 5, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Belew Cemetery in Aubrey.

She is survived by her sister, Modelle Milton of Denton; brother, J.C. Seals of Grapevine and niece Shirley Fowler of Denton; other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Virginia Kaye Taylor

Virginia Kaye Taylor, 32, of Dallas (formerly of Sanger), passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 in the Lake Dallas.

She was born on March 13, 1976 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Roy Edward and Karen Kaye (Neuhaus) Taylor.  She was and 1994 graduate of Denton High School.  She was employed by Thousand Trails in the Account Payable Department. 

Visitation will be held on from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, July 4, 2008 at Coker Funeral Home, 403 Pecan Street, Sanger.  Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, at the Sanger Cemetery Pavillion, Sanger, Texas.

She is survived by her parents of Sanger, four sisters, Samantha West of Sanger, Elizabeth Tracey Taylor of Lewisville, Helen Christine Schlumper of Alaska, and Tina Forrester of Knoxville, TN; one brother, Roy Vincent Taylor of Knoxville, TN; paternal grandmother, Helen Christine Taylor of Knoxville, TN; and 15 nieces and nephews.

Mr. James W. Stimpson

Mr. James W. Stimpson passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Denton Regional Hospital.

Visitation for Mr. Stimpson will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2008, from 7-8pm at Peoples Funeral Home in Denton, TX. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, July 7, 2008 at 11am at Morse Street Baptist Church in Denton, TX. Interment will immediately follow the funeral at Dallas/Ft.Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, TX.

Survivors are, four children; Loretta Mohair, James G. Stimpson, Verdell Stimpson and Richard Stimpson.

Jerry Winders Michaelis

Jerry Winders Michaelis, 88, of Denton, passed away Wednesday July 2, 2008. He was born on February 6, 1920 in Otterville, Missouri to H.W. and Ola (Potter) Michaelis.

Jerry Michaelis was one of the key men involved in the distribution of phonograph records after his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army. He personally pioneered and set in place thousands of locations for record sales in the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s, across the United States.

Jerry was passing through Denton on a business trip when he noticed a sign advertising lots for sale in what was to become the Montecito division. He stopped and purchased the very first lot sold and immediately made Denton his home for the following forty-two years.

Jerry is survived by his three children, Billy Michaelis of Denton, Carolyn Linetty of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Susan Bartholomew of Justin; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy., Dalllas, TX.

Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
