Thomas Claude Stickels, Sr.

Thomas Claude Stickels, Sr., 73, of Lakewood Village, TX, passed away Friday, October 10, 2008 in Presbyterian Hospital of Denton and entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior.

Graveside service will be held Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 3 p.m. in Gooch Cemetery, Mason, Texas, with Pastor William DeDear of the Church of Christ and Pastor Thomas Stickels, Jr. officiating.  Graveside arrangements are under the direction of Mason Funeral Home, Mason, Texas.

Tom was born February 20, 1935 in Fort Worth, to Otto and Irene (Tucker) Stickels who preceded him in death.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Gayle.  He was the wonderful father of three children, Thomas Stickels, Jr. of Midlothian, Laura Carriker of Sanger and Lisa Gayle McCord of Greenville.  He was a proud and loving grandfather of seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He touched innumerable lives because of his caring and concern of others due to his devout commitment to the Lord; following the faith set forth in 1507 by his ancestral grandfather, Johannas Stickels, the Burgomaster of Stuttgart, Germany and a follower of the Christian Movement.  Tom’s loving memory will forever be in our hearts.

Tom was an Electrical Engineer and worked at Fort Worth General Dynamics and as an independent contractor.  He was the Manager of Editorial Services with The Super Conductor-Super Collider in Waxahachie, Texas.

He served as a Deacon in the Church of Christ, and was a member and office holder in the Little Elm Lions Club.  He also served two terms as Mayor of Lakewood Village and two terms as Municipal Judge of Lakewood Village and Oak Point, Texas.  Tom was an active member in the Denton County Republican Club until his health failed.

If desired, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 2680, North Canton, OH, 44720, or to The Light House for the Blind, 214 Van Ness Ave., San Francisco, CA 94102.

Jayne C. Hudson

In loving memory at the sudden passing of Jayne C. Hudson, who was promoted to the Throne of Grace on Saturday, October 11, 2008. Jayne was born to Jewell and Barbara Cross on April 15, 1947 in Wichita, Kan. She met and later married John Hudson while they were both attending college in Tulsa, Okla. Longtime residents of Justin, Texas, Jayne and John moved to Ponder in 2003.

The Hudsons were blessed with one child, Kirstin Bennett, who survives her mother along with Jayne’s five grandchildren, Alex, Paris, Ayden, Kaity, and Maddie; as well as Kirstin’s spouse, Adam. In addition to her daughter, she is also survived by Kirstin’s dearest friend, Dianna Brashier, whom Jayne considered her second daughter, and mother-in-law, Hulda Hudson of Tulsa.

Jayne served as the Director of the Justin Library since October 1997 but had volunteered in the library since 1984. She and John attended Central Fellowship in Decatur, Texas, and a Celebration Memorial of her life will be held at that location on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at 7 p.m.

She leaves us with a lasting memory of her faithful heart, strong work ethic, compassionate nature and generous spirit. All who had the privilege of knowing her will sorely miss her, but we are and will be enriched for having shared that honor.

John and family request, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Justin Library in Jayne’s memory, which would be most appreciated.

Services are under the direction of Lucas Funeral Home in Justin.
