Howard Ray Overturff

Howard Ray Overturff, 68, of Denton passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at his residence.

Services are pending with Denton Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Thomas Edward Robison

Aubrey - Thomas Edward Robison, 68, of Aubrey, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2007 at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano.  He was born on December 24, 1938 in Terre Haute, IN to William J. and Odetta A. Butler Robison.  He married Francine Fitzgerald on January 24, 1981 in Las Vegas, NV.  He was a member for Midway Baptist. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 10 a.m.at Midway Baptist Church.  John Kirkland will officiate. 

He is survived by his wife, Francine Robison of Aubrey; three sons, Thomas Robison, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, Grant Robison of Westlake Village, CA, and Edward Robison of Los Angeles, CA; and five daughters, Beth Reynoso of CA, Patty Sheets of Laverne, CA, Jan Vance of Glendora, CA, Julie Flattery of Bellingham, WA, and Kelly Arnold of Aubrey.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the Feed The Children Foundation, PO Box 36, Oklahoma City, OK 73101. 

Services are under the direction of Slay Memorial Funeral Center, Aubrey, TX. 

Regna W. Crow Bresette

Regna W. Crow Bresette passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2007, in Sanger.  She was born January 2, 1916, to John Felton Crow and Myrtle Lee Bibb Crow in Winters, Texas.  For over 40 years, she was in management of several apartment complexes in Abilene before retirement where she was a member at the Church of Heavenly Rest.  She relocated to Fort Worth where she became involved in enjoying activities focusing around the lives of her children and their families in conjunction with enjoying her other favored pastimes of reading and playing bridge. 

Private family services will be held.  Burial will be at Moore Memorial Garden, Arlington, Texas.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Piatt and husband, Timothy, of Sanger and Toni Ross and husband, Rod, of Saginaw; grandsons, Nathan, Daniel, Jacob and Jonathan Piatt of Denton.  She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shannon Ross, and a brother, Odell Crow. 

Lillie (Jeffcoat) Malone

Lillie (Jeffcoat) Malone, 95, of Grand Prairie (formerly of Sanger), passed away on Monday, November 26, 2007 in Grand Prairie, Texas.

She was born on March 28, 1912 in Blue Ridge, Collin County, Texas, to Walter and Edna (Galbreath) Jeffcoat.  She graduated from Aubrey High School.  She married Jack Malone in 1964 in Decatur, Texas.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sanger, the Estella Hand Baptist Women, and the Wednesday Study Club.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 30, 2007 at the First Baptist Church, 713 North Fifth Street, Sanger, Texas with Dr. E. L. McNeal officiating.  A private interment will follow the services.

She is survived by son, Bobby Clement and wife, Marlene of Grand Prairie; sister, Adell Bean of Aubrey; brothers, Billy Fred Jeffcoat of Waxahachie and Marion Jeffcoat of Aztec, New Mexico; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Coker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dr. G. Ann Uhlir

Dr. G. Ann Uhlir, 73, Dean and Professor Emerita of Texas Woman's University, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2007, in Dallas, Texas.  She was born August 13, 1934 in Kokomo, Indiana to George Cleigh Uhlir and Gladys Eleanor Young Uhlir.

Dr. Uhlir spent her early years in the Midwest and fostered her love of recreation and outdoor education with her inquisitiveness and fascination with nature.   Her life was dedicated to the professions of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance with special emphasis on promotion of opportunities for women, especially in sport.  She has served these professions for 40 years, 30 of those years as an administrator. 

She received her baccalaureate degree in 1955, from Ball State University, her master's (1956) and doctoral degrees (1962) from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Her career began at the State University of New York, Brockport, 1956-65, and continued at Eastern Kentucky University where she served as chairperson of the Physical Education Department, 1965-1979.  From 1979-1982 she was the Executive Director of the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women.  In 1983 Dr. Uhlir came to Texas Woman's University as Dean of the College of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, overseeing those academic departments as well as the athletics and wellness programs. When the University administrative structure was reorganized in 1989 she was chosen as the founding Dean of the College of Health Sciences, adding responsibility for the programs in communication sciences and disorders, dental hygiene, health care administration, nutrition and food sciences, and kinesiology. 

During her tenure at TWU she chaired the University Self Study for re-accreditation by the southern Association of Colleges and Schools, established the Center for Research on Women's Health, implemented the University's first distance learning program, secured approval and funding for the $17 million Pioneer Hall, and obtained entrance of TWU and its all women's sports program into the co-educational Lone Star Conference.  As President of the Conference from 1993-1995 she championed legislation that resulted in an additional women's sport in each school and provided opportunities for several hundred more women to participate in collegiate sports.

Dr. Uhlir's leadership and dedication to opening doors for women were recognized by many honors and awards, including Distinguished Alumni from Ball State University in 1990, Honors for outstanding service, from SUNY Brockport, 2001, and the TWU Athletic Hall of Fame, 2004.  In 2000, she received the Honor Award, the highest recognition given by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance.  Her accomplishments were also recognized by her inclusion in 34 biographical listings (ie. World's Who's Who of Women).

Following her retirement in 1996, Dr. Uhlir enjoyed national and international travel, in particular her work with Earthwatch Research Expedition Teams to the Czech Republic, Estonia, Costa Rica, and Kenya.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 7, 2007 at 2 p.m. at The Little Chapel in the Woods, Texas Woman's University in Denton.  There will be a reception immediately following in the Southeast Ballroom, Hubbard Hall, TWU.  Ann will be cremated and laid to rest with her parents at The National Cemetery Pischelville, Nebraska.

Survivors include her brother, Golby Cleigh Uhlir; sister-in-law, Judie Kern Uhlir; niece, Karla Ann Uhlir, all of Sioux City, Iowa; nephew, Grant Cleigh Uhlir and his wife, Molly Uhlir and two great nephews, Griffin Cleigh and Grayson Cleigh Uhlir of River Forrest, Illinois; and her long time partner, Jo Kuhn of Denton, Texas.

Memorials:  For those desiring, the family suggests donations to the Dr. G. Ann Uhlir Endowed Fellowship for Higher Education Administration Fund at TWU Office of Institutional Development, P. O. Box 425618, Denton, TX 76204-5618 or the charity of the donor's choice.

Franklin "Frank" Lamar Compton, 70, of Southlake, formerly of Corinth, passed away Monday, November 26, 2007.  He was born July 30, 1937 to William Franklin Compton and Mary Mitchem Compton in Corsicana.  He served in the United States Air Force and attended Lonesome Dove Church.  Before retirement, he had been owner of a Construction Company and also worked for the Water and Sewer Department for the City of Corinth. 

Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 29, 2007 at the Shiloh Cemetery in Corinth, Texas, with Brother Norman Free officiating.

He is survived by his former wife, Jean Compton of Corinth; daughter, Shelley Hendrik of Corinth; son, Mark Compton of Denton; sisters, Linda Riley of Clute, Texas, and Genny, Penny and Jane of Waco; brother, Doc Compton of Bailey, Texas; and beloved grandchildren, Haven, Olivia, Andrew, JohnMark, Luke and Matthew.

William Richard “Mr. Bill” Hearon

William Richard “Mr. Bill” Hearon, 64, of Lewisville, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2007 at The Medical Center of Lewisville.  He was born March 1, 1943 in Bronx, NY to Ernest and Mary Hearon. Mr. Bill was a very kind person with a big heart that touched many lives, some we may not even know about. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2007 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Denton Funeral Home. A funeral service will be Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Denton Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

He is survived by his son, Shawn and wife, Erin Hearon of Richmond, TX; daughter, Deidre and husband, Danny Ardoin of Sulphur, LA; sister, Janey Hearon of

Raleigh, NC; brothers, Kevin and wife, Mary Hearon of San Antonio, Ronnie and wife, Patti Hearon of St. Petersburg, FL, Brian and wife, Jo Gail of Buda, TX, Terry and wife, Lori of Buda, TX and Chris Hearon of Pflugerville, TX; seven grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.  His parents precede him in death.

Services are under the direction of Denton Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Ruthanne (Barnett) Dencklau

Ruthanne (Barnett) Dencklau, 65, of Sanger, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2007 in Denton, Texas.  She was born on January 8, 1942 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Gordon Willis and Raechal Fidalis (Chapman) Barnett.  She was a bookkeeper for a transportation company. 

Visitation will be from 2 – 4 p.m., Thursday, November 29, 2007, at Coker Funeral Home, 403 Pecan Street, Sanger, Texas.  A sunset eulogy will be held at 5:21 p.m., Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 2888 Switzer Road, Sanger, Texas.

She is survived by daughter, Kathleene Crawford of Sanger; daughter, Peggy Arrington and husband, Dennis of Sanger; sisters, Bonnie Hawkins of Missouri and Donna Jones of South Dakota; seven grandchildren, J. T. Steele, Dusty Blackburn, Beau Johnson, Kevyn Crawford, Cole Crawford, Angie King and Kelly Arrington; 14 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Harry and Anna Chapman; and brother, Tom Barnett. 

The family has requested that memorials be made to the Rotary Club of Sanger, P.O. Box 70, Sanger, Texas, 76266.

Coker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

Tristan Eliot McEuin

Tristan Eliot McEuin was delivered from the loving warmth of his mother to our loving Heavenly Father November 21, 2007 at 11:45 p.m. (EST) in Louisville, Kentucky.   He was a sweet and innocent handful of 9 oz.

He is survived by his parents, James Allen and Courtney McEuin; and his big brother, Hasten Lewis McEuin. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Brenda Adkisson of Marion, Illinois; paternal grandparents, Dottie & Grady R. McEuin, Jr. of Denton Texas; his uncle, Ray and Kari McEuin; cousins Raena, Brayden, Grayson, Alexander and Lindsey; his aunt, Malinda Mabry; cousins, Levi, Cole and Chase; his uncle, Ryan and Annie McEuin; and cousins, Caroline, Shane, Kera, Jenae and Dylan. Preceding him and awaiting him with loving arms are his maternal great-grandparents, Jewel and Olen Hasten; paternal great-grandparents Josephine & James Allen Lewis, and Pat and Grady R. McEuin Sr.

Exodus 23:20 "See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared." Tristan is with the greatest of great-grandparents and will be eagerly awaiting our arrival.

Dora Vaughn Marshall

Dora Vaughn Marshall, 81, of Denton, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton.  Ms. Dora was born March 16, 1926 in Mangum, LA to Vena and Fanny Vaughn.

Ms. Dora was employed by UNT for 10 years and was a foster grandparent at Denton State School for many years.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the St. James Baptist Church in Monroe, LA, with burial following at Richwood Memorial Gardens, Monroe, LA.

She is survived by four sons, Sam and wife, Betty Marshall of Denton, Willis Leon and wife, Kathy Marshall of Fort Worth, Sylvester Marshall of Hammond, LA, and Plaze Marshall of Monroe, LA; brother, Sylvester Vaughn of Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Sam, Jr., Semaj, and Semone Marshall, Felicia, Ashley, Jalisa and Jay Catlin Jr., all of Denton.
