Socialist monster

You socialist left-wing liberal nuts brought a spending socialist monster into the White House. This honeymoon with your president has to end someday.

The reason Osama Obama hasn’t anything to say about the voting corruption in Iran is because the socialist United States government today wants to someday run this country the same way President Imanutjob runs Iran.

Obama sure commented quick on the ousting of the Honduran socialist president by the military, saying it was illegal.

This socialist government wants to one day run this country of ours like Fidel Castro and other socialist nuts run their countries.

If we go on worrying more about baseball games and football than we do about what this socialist liberal government is doing, this country will be worse than the USSR Russians were during the Cold War.

So all I have to say to you socialist left-wing nuts is, wake up stupid!

Oh, and Michael Jackson is still dead. Get over it, you bunch of nuts.

Robert Davila,

Valley View

Danger from within

From our first days as a nation, we have faced many challenges from hostile forces determined to destroy our country. But the words of Nikita Khrushchev ring in my ears: “We will destroy you from within.”

Over the years from his declaration, I have worried about those within our country, the hate-America-first crowd, and their march to bring us to our knees.

Last November it appears we have put their commander in the White House.

In a few short months, Obama has put government expansion in motion that will ensure that your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be forced to live under the socialist government thumb.

No lie seems too big for his liberal Democrat henchmen to spin as propaganda in order to hide the true outcomes.

Remember Obama’s announcement that not one person with an income less than $250,000 will see any kind of tax increase?

Let’s visit just a few items on the agenda.

A conservative estimate of the Cap & Trade will see a minimum of cost to your family of $3,000-plus each year and rising. It will cost us an estimated 3 million jobs over 10 years, from current job levels.

Then there is the gas tax, several other green taxes, cigarette taxes and long list of other taxes. Get the point? Obama lies!

But the Republicans are not totally clean, well at least not until they primary the defectors of freedom and drive them from office. RINO’s are in season!

Hyme Solomon,

Image is everything

With all the world’s complicated problems, here is one with a simple and inexpensive solution. The University of North Texas needs to wake up and escape from the self-imposed funky cloud of confusion by quit referring to itself as the “Mean Green.” They are the Eagles. A top-tier name if there ever was one.

How can a color be mean? Why would it want to? Is it a germ or a vegetable? “Mean” does not equate to strong, proud, brave, wise or powerful. On the other hand, the word Eagles does connote strong, proud, brave, wise and powerful.

Mean is a trait that should not be sought after. One cannot build a structure that will stand the test of time if the foundation is off.

Use the phrase Mean Green as a nickname for the football team’s defense, when they earn it, like the Wrecking Crew of A&M or Black Shirts of Nebraska. Not the basketball team or women’s tennis team.

There are only two other Division I schools with Eagles as the mascot, Boston College and Southern Mississippi. Neither one uses it.

UNT should shed the brand of Mean Green and embrace the majestic name of the Eagles to define itself. Image is everything.

Alumni, students and supporters of the UNT nation will be relieved to not have to explain to other schools what their mascot is.

Who knows, maybe Don Henley and his Eagles will do a concert to kick off this new identity? Remove the cloud and let the Eagles fly.

Government health care

First of all, I guess I do not like having to pay for health care for my family and myself, but I look at the expense like paying for car insurance or homeowners insurance.

It is important and necessary to have, so I pay the monthly expense, basically the cost of having a family and living in the greatest country in the world.

When Obama was running for president, he demonized the evil insurance and drug companies for always saying no to the consumers. I viewed President Obama on the Obama Broadcasting Company (sorry, ABC news network) and Obama said the insurance companies were wasteful and doing non-necessary procedures.

A word of advice for Obama: Get your argument straight before tearing into my health care. Basically, I feel anyone who wants government-administered health care can get in line, but I will go ahead and keep what I already have.

The numbers do not add up. If we add 15 million to 45 million patients to a system, it will be inadequately staffed. It is an absolute joke.

If members of Congress are not going to be in the Obama care, then why should we follow Obama down this road? Offer Americans the same health care that congressional members have or do not offer anything.

Tough talk versus cool heads

I fear that Republicans have not yet shown the depths to which they will stoop to make political points, even if the logical consequence of their remarks is to give the Iranian regime a propaganda tool to further repress demonstrations in that country.

Already there are comments on the Internet that it was the CIA who shot “Neda,” the lovely young Iranian whose tragic death has broken hearts around the world. This claim is obviously propaganda to heap disdain on the United States, the Great Satan.

Given the history of U.S. meddling in Iran, it would be relatively easy to make such a claim seem valid.

Obama’s low-key approach makes it less likely that propaganda like this will gain purchase. It is exactly the right way to proceed. Republicans seem to forget that they lost the election and that thoughtless tough talk lost out to cool heads and diplomacy.
