No winners here

An organization I once belonged to put on a first-class horse show and rodeo every year. It was a big event.

One year, we obtained the services of a very distinguished and honorable veterinarian from West Texas to judge the horse show. In the halter horse events, some less-than-honorable entrants will check the class roster and see which class has the fewest or no entries. They enter their horse in that class for trophies, points and bragging rights.

We had a man enter his horse in a class that had no other horses entered, fully expecting a first-in-class trophy.

When the judge came to the center of the arena to judge the lone entry, he judged it like there were 20 head in the class. He was very thorough. The horse owner was all grins.

When the awards ceremony came around and his name was called, the judge handed him a third-place ribbon. The owner hit the ceiling, demanding a first-place trophy, as his horse was the only horse in that class.

The honorable judge said, “No!  You have a third-place horse and you get a third-place ribbon.”

I feel the same about all the senators currently running for president of the United States.

Talk, talk, talk

It never ceases to amaze me when I listen to talk radio for amusement how the hosts are in the pockets of the Republican Party.

Just listen to them; they care more about the Republican Party than about America.

If McCain is such a great candidate now, why was he not selected as the GOP nominee when he ran against Bush six years ago? If he was not worthy to be president six years ago, what makes him worthy to be president now?

Talk radio hosts will talk about anything or lie about anything to keep the Republican Party in power, even support a candidate who six months ago they had nothing good to say about.

As Americans, we need to think for ourselves. Research where each candidate stands. If we want to change America, we need to join together and get rid of all incumbents who have been in Washington more than one term. We must educate ourselves on what the candidates really stand for and quit listening to the bigmouth liars who make a dishonest living.

Join me and let’s join together and post signs on our cars, yards, etc., stating that we will not vote for any incumbent who has been in Washington more than one term.

They have not performed to our standards, and as Donald Trump would say, “You’re fired!” Let’s take back America for our children and grandchildren. If we don’t, our children will be living and working in a Third World United States.

Lemmings, goose-steppers

God bless the Republicans who have bolted from the herd. The rest of you are lemmings and goose-steppers.

Repubs like Bush and Reagan have given us more big government and most of a $9.3 trillion debt. They have given us record annual deficits that don’t even include the enormous cost of the fraudulent Bush war.

How are they going to pay for it? You have to pay for it sometime or you won’t even be able to pay the interest. Aw shucks, let’s just have another tax cut. Another Repub con game.

They are now giving us a recession with high inflation. There’s an old saying: When Democrats are in office, we have good times; when Repubs are in office, we have bad times (unless the feds artificially rig it). I’ve even had a couple old time Repubs tell me that. The reason is that when Dems are in, they keep everyone involved in the economy; when Repubs are in, they want it all for themselves and they will rip off every budget to get it.

The military budget, bloated as it is, is $300 billion over budget. We are three fighter generations ahead of other countries and still paying $300 billion for the F35.

Iraq profiteering amounts to rape and pillage. But the goose-steppers defend it all.

Now G Bush blames Congress for not having enough refineries and the goose-steppers blame OPEC for the gas prices.

Where’s our flag?

As per the Cinco de Mayo event in Denton, there is something very disturbing to the writer. The Mexicans wave and proudly display the Mexican flag, but where is our American flag? We are in the republic of the United States, not Mexico.

May the writer wish our Mexican-American citizens well? The food and Mexican culture are great. However, we are Americans. Please display our flag the next time you have your parade.

There is an old saying that might fit the special occasion: You should dance with the one who brung you.

Have a good day and a better day tomorrow.

Tillman E. Uland,
