Obama’s socialist agenda
As we watch the brutal crackdown by the theocratic tyranny in Iran on its own people, sane and otherwise rational Americans are wondering why their president is not doing what an American president should do when we see the spiked fist of inhumanity and death bearing down on protesting citizens, which is manning up and telling Supreme Murderer Khameini and his yapping mad dog Ahmadinejad to stop.

But, hey, this is Obama, the Great One, the man with big plans to transform the USA, and he isn’t going to let anything get in his way. He will not put his domestic socialist agenda on the back burner and turn attention and effort toward what reason and humanity demand of him for fear that delaying his domestic agenda will surely doom it.
He needs to ram his agenda through, pronto. No time to be leader of the free world, oh no. Obama fears that his Democrat Party will be decimated in 2010, emasculating the legislative arm of his junta, and he shows by his feeble response that he would rather let Iranians face slaughter in the streets than compromise on his college-days dream of a socialist utopia.
Sounds cold, huh? Well, that’s how more and more Americans are seeing it. Let’s just hope that Obama can change before it is too late.
John Stiegelmar,
Denton
Who owns the past?
In regard to Chuck Roedema’s “Bet he can’t” letter [Letters, June 22], it proves two things: hypocrisy and naivety of GOPers like himself.
First, he and his ilk have been whining that Democrats should get over griping about Bush now that he’s out of office, yet here he is desperately throwing out that so-old-its-hairy, lame-duck defense that the nonexistent-WMDs were shipped to Syria before the war.
Apparently, it’s not OK for Dems to bring up the past yet it’s A-OK for Repubs.
Second, any idiot knows that we’ve had satellites trained on Iraq for decades, so an Iraqi couldn’t even walk a dog over the Syria border without our knowing about it, yet somehow oodles of large trucks of WMDs apparently made it over without detection. Please.
Mr. Roedema, I don’t think you’re stupid; you’re just unfortunately being a right-knee-jerk reactionary spouting probably everything thrice-divorced, drug-offender Limbaugh spouts without your thinking it through.
Realize that Limbaugh doesn’t bother with fair-minded intellectual debates. When a caller challenges him and starts to get the better of him, he simply cuts them off. And in turn, you and your kind are left with egg on your faces carrying his ball of bollocks that’ll never make it over that goal line.
If Limbaugh wants to continue being a boisterous blowhard, fine, but that doesn’t mean you have to follow in his facile footsteps.
Jack Sommersby,
Denton
Thank you, Bridge Church
Thanks and appreciation goes out to the Bridge Church here in Denton for the many acts of love provided to the residents in my City Council District 1.
Teams made up of adults and young people, under the supervision of Minister Jaimie, have painted houses, cleaned yards, cut shrubbery, hauled away debris and paid utility bills, all for the sake of the mandate handed down by Christ.
This church community says loud and clear that it can because it is a lifestyle community.
Pastor D. White espouses that they share day-by-day the common happenings of their lives. They know that spiritual teaching and insights of the Lord is giving.
They are not living in the world and going to church, but of living in the church and going to the world by their examples.
They have accepted unconditional economic liability for and total financial availability to those in our community.
Charlye Heggins,
Denton
