Time to plan tee times after the Blizzard of ‘08

09:28 AM CDT on Thursday, March 13, 2008

“The winds were blowing 50 mph and gusting to 70. I hit a par 3 with my hat.”

—Chi Chi Rodriguez on the winds in Scotland

The month of March has the reputation of being a very windy and difficult time for us golfers here in north Texas. This year it roared in more like a snow lion. Now that we have survived the Blizzard of ’08 we can start planning our tee times on the least windy days before the, hopefully still to come, April monsoon begins.

Conditions may have been a bit soggy when the LPMGA played their 2-man team best ball tournament last Sat. March 8 at the Lake Park Golf Course, though I have not heard any complaints.

Winners of the event are Champions Flight, gross score — Scott Higginbotham and Alan Magill, 62; net score winners- Greg Love and Turtle Martinez, 62.
