Denton Parks and Recreation Department scrambles

The City of Denton Parks and Recreation Tuesday Golf Scrambles at the Robson Ranch Wildhorse Golf Course are underway again this year with play dates scheduled for June 3 and 17, July 1 and 15, Aug. 5, 12, 19, and 26.

The 9-hole 2-player team scramble begins with check-in no later than 5:15 p.m. and a 5:30 p.m. tee time.

Entry fees are a $13 green fee and an $8 cart fee per player.

There will be a closest to the pin and a longest drive contest. Prizes will awarded to the first and second place teams, with third place receiving a prize when there are seven or more teams playing.

Registration can be done in person at the Denton Civic Center, 321 E. McKinney in Denton, or by calling 940-349-7275 to pay by credit card.

Deadline for registration is 1 p.m. on the day of the scramble.

Denton Area Golf Association results

The Denton Area Golf Association individual stroke play tournament held at The Club at Runaway Bay golf course May 17 results are: Champion flight, gross score- 1. Billy Franklin, 74; 2. Randy Brittain, 77. Net score- 1. Jim Wohlgemuth, 72; 2. John Martin, 74. First flight, gross score- 1. Mark Moffitt, 82; 2. Mark Marshall, 86. Net score- 1. Bert Hayslip, 73; 2. Mike Phillips, 75. Second flight, gross score- 1. Neil Warren, 82; 2. Steve Jones, 85. Net score- 1. James Stallings, 67; 2. Gail West, 69.

A total of 24 golfers competed in the tournament.

Gainesville Men’s Golf Association activities

The Gainesville Men’s Golf Association announced the membership will conduct an annual special project that will “make the course look and play better.” This year a sign will be erected in a prominent location on the first tee posting all of the Gainesville Municipal Golf Course and U.S.G.A. rules.

The GMGA 2-man team scramble tournament held at the Gainesville Municipal Golf Course May 10 results are: First flight- 1. Kevin Gann and Steve Harbin, 62; 2. David Hughes and Sam Hendrickson, 64; 3. Clyde Bond and Wilson Stinnet, 66. Second flight- 1. Ricky Earlandson and Wayne Gann, 71; 2. Randy Brown and Jimmy Burke, 75; 3. Clint Huhnke and Stan Dieter, 77.

There were a total of 26 golfers playing in the scramble.

WinStar Golf Course partners with Adams Golf Pro Tour Series

WinStar Golf Course in Thackerville, Okla. and Adams Golf Pro Tour Series has signed an agreement to partner the 2008 Red River Open Golf Championship with an estimated $90,000 purse that will be held July 31 through August 2. A Pro-am event will be played on July 30.
