Football: Graham boots Sanger in 4th overtime, 21-15

12:02 AM CST on Sunday, November 26, 2006

By Greg Bogomol/For the Denton Record-Chronicle

ALEDO -- Derek Sokolosky made sure of one thing last night at Aledo's Bearcat Stadium. He was going to make sure his team didn't lose.

All the 170-pound senior did was score the game-tying touchdown to force overtime, score in the third overtime and get the 2-point conversion, swat down Sanger's fourth-down pass in the fourth overtime -- and, if that wasn't enough, he scored the game-winning touchdown from 1 yard out in the same period.

That last score made Graham (7-5) a 21-15 winner over Sanger (9-3) in a Class 3A Region I Division II game at Bearcat Stadium.

Graham took a 15-8 lead in the third overtime when Sokolosky scored on a 1-yard run around the left end and then added the 2-point conversion around the same end.

Sanger answered back to make it 15-13 when Nathan Pegues went around right end for a 25-yard score on the first play. He then appeared to be stopped short of the 2-point conversion but pitched the ball back to Weston Squier, who scampered in to tie it at 15 apiece.

Pegues finished with 145 yards on 23 carries, while Squier added 51 yards on 16 attempts.
