Basketball roundup: Wildcats roll past Saginaw

SAGINAW — The Guyer Wildcats beat Saginaw soundly Monday. Guyer won its first game of the year 73-47.
Guyer (1-1) built its lead to 30-23 by the half before the Wildcats took off offensively in the third quarter. In the second half, Guyer outscored Saginaw 43-24.
Derrick Johnson led Guyer with 14 points. Ryan Woodward had 10 points.

McKINNEY — The Denton Broncos got off to a slow start and fell to McKinney North on Monday, 70-57.
Desmond Taylor was the top scorer for the Broncos with 23 points for the night.

PRINCETON — The Argyle Eagles beat Princeton 60-44 on Monday. Argyle (2-0) held a comfortable lead in the face of a Princeton rally in the second half.
Argyle built a solid 31-18 lead in the first half. Caden Dickerson led Argyle with 19 points. Walter Phillips had 16 points and Zach Pearson had nine points.

SANGER — Josh Clark’s 3-pointer rimmed out at the buzzer and Sanger’s comeback bid fell short Monday night against Frisco Centennial.
During the 59-56 loss, Sanger’s Luke Johnson scored 34 points, but his big effort was not enough.
Sanger (1-2) was held scoreless in the third quarter to put it in a 46-29 hole entering the final quarter.

DECATUR — After a fast start, Aubrey fell to Decatur in its season opener, 61-50, on Monday.
The Chaparrals (0-1) were led by Kaleb Parrent’s 19 points in the losing effort. John Lasley added seven points and seven assists, while Joe Williams had eight points. Billy Feathers contributed two points and a team-high six rebounds.
