High school football: Calvary wins big in first playoff game

11:06 AM CST on Sunday, November 18, 2007

The Calvary Lions layed 64 points on Amarillo Heritage on Saturday, forcing the referees to call the game in the third quarter of the six man football Bi-district playoff round game.

Calvary won 64-14.

Quarterback William Orr led the Lions with 160 passing yards, 41 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Chris Welch played great on special teams, blocking two Amarillo punts. Orr returned one punt for a touchdown and the other was recovered for a safety.

“We played well,” Lions head coach Dhati Lewis said. “We got off to a slow start and had to adjust.”

Next up the Lions will play Bulverde Bracken at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Temple in the regional quarterfinals.
