WHITESBORO — The Aubrey Lady Chaparrals slipped past Tom Bean, 2-1, in Game 1 of a best-of-three series on Thursday in Whitesboro behind the batting heroics of Kelsey Reding and the pitching prowess of Kylie Roos.

Roos pitched a complete game one-hitter to keep Tom Bean at bay. Redding hit knocked in Kacee Henderson twice, once in the fifth to tie it and again in the seventh to take the lead and ultimately win it.

Roos struck out 15 batters on the night.

Tom Bean’s only run came in the first inning when its leadoff hitter got on base. She stole third and a throwing error allowed her to score.

Aubrey (26-2) will try to close out the Class 2A Region II quarterfinal series in Game 2 at 6 p.m. today in Allen.
