Softball roundup: Late outburst lifts Argyle past Decatur in 8-3A softball

DECATUR — Argyle broke open a close game with an 11-run seventh inning during a 19-7 win over Decatur on Monday.

The Lady Eagles (10-11, 2-3) pounded out 20 hits and took advantage of seven Decatur errors in the win. Four Argyle hitters had doubles, while Chandler Hamilton and Emily Rodgers combined for the win in the circle.

Argyle held a 8-7 lead heading into the final inning.

Pilot Point 11, Gainesville 0

GAINESVILLE — Pilot Point continued its hot start to District 8-3A play with an 11-0, five-inning rout of Gainesville on Monday.

Kelsey Ready got the win in the circle for Pilot Point as she fanned 11 batters and allowed just two hits. She also went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and two runs. Mattie Neal went 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Lynnzee Owen hit a two-run single.

The LadyCats (17-5-2) took two innings to get started but surged when they did. Pilot Point broke open a scoreless game with four in the third, three in the fourth and it induced the run rule with a four-run fifth inning.

LEONARD — Kelsey Reding pitched a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts as Aubrey shut out Leonard in six innings Monday.

The Lady Chaparrals (14-2, 5-0) pounded out 17 hits, led by a 4-for-4 showing by Kacee Hender-son. Amanda Nelson was 3-for-4 for Aubrey, while Kasey Carlock and Kylie Roos had two hits apiece.

Krum 5, Blue Ridge 4

KRUM — The Krum Lady Cats capped a late rally with a four-run seventh inning to knock off Blue Ridge on Monday.

Krum (7-6-1, 2-2) erased a 4-0 deficit with a run in the sixth and four in its final at-bat. Allison Taylor was 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs, and Rachel Vasquez went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Lady Cats.
