PRINCETON -- Pilot Point kept its district 9-3A playoff hopes alive with a second half surge past Princeton, 20-3. Pilot Point (6-3, 4-2) faces Frisco Wakeland (8-1, 5-1) next week in another must-win game for Pilot Point.
Princeton battled Pilot Point to a scoreless tie at halftime. The game turned in the third-quarter when Pilot Point's Seth Tilley tackled Princeton's punter on the Princeton 2-yard line after a high snap. One play later, Jarman Johnson scored on a run up the middle.
Pilot Point struck again quickly after a Princeton punt. Stuart Tilley broke free down the right sideline for a 53-yard touchdown and Pilot Point led, 13-0, with five minutes left in the third quarter. Tilley stiff-armed the defender at the 10-yard line to get into the end zone.
Pilot Point put the game away in the fourth quarter on Johnson's 20-yard touchdown run, set up by a fumble recovery on the Princeton 23-yard line.
