Boys basketball roundup: Win moves Wildcats into fourth in 5-4A

WICHITA FALLS -- The Guyer Wildcats went on the road to defeat Wichita Falls Rider, 68-50, on Friday night.

Leading the way for Guyer was Derrick Johnson with 25 points. Tyler Crosek scored 21 points on the night and Michael Pospieski added 12 points for the Wildcats.

Rider had two players in double figures, but could not overcome Guyer.

Guyer (4-3) will host Denton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

CORINTH -- The Lake Dallas Falcons fell at home to Wichita Falls, 60-49, on Friday night.

Xavier Rogers led the Falcons with 12 points. Ashton Allen added 10 points for Lake Dallas on the night.

Wichita Falls had three players in double figures, which proved to be too much for the Falcons to overcome.

Lakes Dallas (7-14, 2-5) will play at Ryan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

CELINA -- The Argyle Eagles went on the road to defeat Celina, 85-38, on Friday night.

Caden Dickerson led the Eagles with a game-high 21 points. Clarke Overlander scored 16 points. Zack Pearson and Walter Phillips each scored 11 points for the Eagles.

Argyle (22-2, 3-0) will host Prosper at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

VALLEY VIEW -- The Ponder Lions won on the road, 51-29, over Valley View on Friday night.

Isaiah Boxell led the way for Ponder, scoring 14 points. Dylan Ballard added 10 points for the Lions.

With the score tied at half, Ponder was able to pull away in the second half.

“It was a good, hard-fought ball game,” Ponder head coach Doug Boxell said. “Our kids stood up and answered the bell and helped us win the game.”

Ponder (26-1, 6-1) will host S&S at 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Klay Dodd led the way for the Bobcats with 24 points. Justin Wallace scored 22 points and Kellin Harris scored 19 points.

Krum (22-4, 7-0) will host Valley View on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.

Jon Carroll led Pilot Point, scoring 18 points. Hunter Svane and Mike Pelzel each scored 15 points on the night for Pilot Point.

Pilot Point (16-7, 5-2) will play at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Callisburg.

ARLINGTON -- Liberty Christian fell at home to Arlington Grace Prep, 55-46, on Friday night.

Justin Baldia scored 14 points to lead the way for the Warriors. Christian Scofield added 11 points for Liberty Christian.

Jason Smith scored 18 points to lead Grace Prep. Nick Russell added 14 points for Grace Prep.

 “We played hard but just had too many turnovers and missed shots,” Liberty head coach Richard Scofield said.

Liberty Christian (19-10, 3-3) will play at 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Fort Worth Christian.
