Boys basketball: Clark, Indians come back to beat Little Elm

LITTLE ELM -- Sanger’s Josh Clark made two free throws with 3.9 seconds left to give the Indians the lead and eventual win over Little Elm, 50-48, on Tuesday night. It was part of a fourth quarter rally that saw Sanger (3-2) outscore Little Elm 15-7.

The Indians’ Jacob Gray led the offense with 14 points while Zach Starr had 11 rebounds.

“It was a super effort on the defensive end,” Sanger head coach Jude Stanley said. “We limited them to less than 50 points.”

Sanger next plays on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Fort Worth Nolan Tournament against Fort Worth All Saints.

Sanger 15, Little Elm 7

 

Argyle 69, Fort Worth Paschal 63

FORT WORTH -- The Argyle Eagles recovered from a slow start for a 69-63 win against Fort Worth Paschal on Tuesday night.

Argyle fell behind 21-8 in the first quarter before rallying to finish the first half behind by four. Argyle kept the pressure on in the second half, outscoring Paschal 45-35 to win by six.

Caden Dickerson was instrumental to Argyle’s win with 26 points. Zach Pearson had 13 points.

Argyle will play against Saginaw on Thursday in the Fort Worth Brewer tournament.

Birdville 81, Guyer 53

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- The Guyer Wildcats were outpaced 81-53 by an aggressive Birdville team on Tuesday night.

Guyer (1-3) trailed 45-24 in the first half as Birdville played with tight defensive pressure.

Guyer was led by Tyler Crosek with 16 points. Blanton Hamdan had nine points.

Guyer will play in the Joshua Tournament against Granbury on Thursday at 5 p.m.

 

Frisco Centennial 53, Lake Dallas 47

CORINTH -- The Lake Dallas Falcons fell behind after a promising start, losing 53-47 against Frisco Centennial on Tuesday night.

Lake Dallas (0-3) led  21-16 at halftime. In the third quarter, however, Centennial hammered Lake Dallas 18-7 to erase the Falcons’ lead.

Gerald Pleasant led Lake Dallas with 12 points while Xavier Rogers had nine points.

Lake Dallas will play against Mesquite Poteet in the Waxahachie tournament on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

 

Pilot Point 68, Gunter 35

GUNTER -- Pilot Point used a 26-2 run to open the game to put away Gunter early on Tuesday night.

The Bearcats (3-2) stretched their lead to 42-17 at the half. Hunter Svane led Pilot Point with 17 points, while Jonathan Carroll added 12 and Dylan Choate had 11.

 

 

Melissa 66, Aubrey 34

AUBREY — The Aubrey boys basketball team only shot 26 percent from the field Tuesday night and fell 66-34 loss against Melissa.

Aubry (0-3) trailed 22-9 after the first quarter and never could recover.

Joe Williams, who scored nine points and pulled down 11 rebounds, led the Chaparrals. Melissa had four scorers in double figures.
