Baseball

The Flower Mound Warriors Select Baseball Club is looking for eligible players to play 14-and-under and compete at a high AAA/Major Level. The team will be led by a paid coach and will have access to indoor hitting and workout facilities at The Edge Extreme. Basketball
The North Texas men's basketball team will host a series of camps over the summer. The Little Eagle Camp will take place from July 14-17 and will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the Mean Green Village. The North Texas women’s basketball team will host a position camp Aug. 5-6 at the Mean Green Village from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m., which is open to players ages 13-18. The Pilot Point Bearcat Basketball Camp is scheduled for July 14-18 for students in grades 3-9. Pilot Point head boys coach Danny Baggett is the camp director. First Baptist Church of Sanger and Sports Ministry of North Texas will host an Upward Summer Basketball Camp in its Family Life Center on Aug. 4-8. Hoop Hunter Basketball in Roanoke will host Deon Hunter’s Point Guard Summer School in July. The 48-hour camp runs 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Equestrian
The Gainesville Riding Club will continue its Open Play Day Buckle Series this summer at the Gainesville Riding Club Arena, 3152 N. Grand Ave. in Gainesville. Remaining dates are July 19 and Sept. 20.
Awards will be presented at the end of the season in various age groups and riding disciplines. Spectators are welcome. The club also meets on the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the arena clubhouse. Football
The Lake Dallas Falcon football camp will be held Aug. 4-7, with sessions each day for incoming students in grades 1-5 (8-10:30 a.m.) and grades 6-9 (10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.). Cost is $75 per camper. Gymnastics
Achievers Gymnastics Center in Denton will hold a weekly series of summer gymnastics-fitness-adventure camp programs through Aug. 18. The age-group programs are designed for all abilities. Preschool camp (ages 3-5) runs 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and school-age camp (ages 6 and up) runs 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For registration information, call 940-484-4900.
Hockey
Face Off Hockey Center will be hosting an inline hockey camp July 21st through July 24th. Camp times will be 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. each day. The camp will focus on the development of basic hockey skills, including skating form, stick handling, shooting, and conditioning. Each day will be divided into 3 sections, off-rink conditioning, on-rink skill development, and scrimmages each day. Lunch is provided by Face Off Hockey Center each day and each camper will receive a written evaluation form from our instructors and t-shirt. Cost of the camp is $150.00 per person.
Motor sports
Only a few spots remain for the Aug. 26 Tony Stewart Smoke Show at Texas Motor Speedway, an event that allows fans a chance to drive with the former NASCAR points champion. The event, which benefits the Speedway Children’s Charities-Texas Chapter, has packages ranging from $6,000 to $8,250. The packages include two 10-lap competitive sessions in a stock car with personalized instruction from Stewart and a three-lap, two-seater ride with him. Recruiting
Advance Sports will conduct a college athletic recruiting seminar from 9 a.m.-noon on Aug. 2 at the Radisson Hotel, 6060 N. Central Expressway in Dallas. The seminar is open to high school athletes, parents and coaches, and will cover all aspects of the recruiting process, including financial aid information. Soccer
The North Texas Women’s Soccer Association is recruiting all levels of players to play soccer in Denton. Any player age 18 and over is invited to join. Registration is in early July, and the season begins Aug. 24. Practices for new players are held Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. throughout the summer at 1117 Riney Road in Denton. The 2008 Texas Woman’s University Soccer Instructional Day Camp will be held July 21-25 at the TWU Soccer Field on the TWU campus. Girls and boys in grades 1-6 are invited to attend this camp. The cost is $95 and the camp will focus on the development of technical skills — dribbling, passing, shooting, and heading. TWU head soccer coach Fleur Benatar will be the camp director. Challenger Sports will host a weeklong British soccer camp during the week of July 7 in association with the Denton Soccer Association at North Lakes Soccer Complex.
The camp will run Monday through Friday and include the Camp World Cup daily tournament. It is one of 2,000 camps offered throughout North America by Challenger Sports. Camps include ages 3-4 (cost $62), ages 4-5 (cost $71) and ages 6-16 (cost $93). Each camper receives a free camp shirt, ball and player evaluation. Softball

Tennis
The Lake Dallas Summer Tennis Camp, for students in elementary and middle school, has sessions from June 23-July 9, July 16-25 and July 28-Aug. 6. Robert Gwinn, tennis coach at Lake Dallas High School and a professional instructor, will teach campers about forehand, backhand, serve, volley, proper conduct and rules.
