Basketball: Ponder to host tournament starting today

Ponder will host its annual basketball tournament, which runs today through Saturday with boys and girls divisions for varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams. Games will be played at Ponder's high school and junior high gyms.
In the boys varsity division, the Lions will try to defend their title against a field that includes Krum, Whitesboro, Plano John Paul II, Lubbock Trinity Christian, and JV teams from Fort Worth Dunbar and North Crowley. Each team will play five games over three days in a round-robin format.
On the girls side, the varsity field includes Ponder, Sanger, Denison, Prosper, Saginaw and Alvord. The teams also will play five games, with Ponder and Sanger meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday.
