The Mean Green improves to 7-4 overall and has won 21 of its last 23 non-conference home games. The Lions fall to 7-4 on the year.

After being held scoreless for the first time this season on Sunday, Tramiel responded with 19 points against the Lions. He was 6-for-10 from the field and 7-for-9 from the free-throw line. The senior also led the team with a season-high eight rebounds.

Tramiel’s partner down low, George Odufuwa, also scored in double figures with 12 points. After scoring a combined 12 points against FIU, the duo came back Tuesday to score a collective 31.

Behind 52 percent shooting in the first half, North Texas jumped out to a double-digit halftime lead. Despite being outscored in the second half, 32-28, the Mean Green never gave up its lead.

With its hot shooting, North Texas began to pull away from the Lions as the first half wore on. Tristan Thompson hit his second 3-pointer of the night at 7:02 to put the Mean Green ahead by 13 points, 29-16. Thompson scored 10 of his 12 points in the first half. The 12-point performance was his third straight game in double figures.

Josh White forced a steal with 1:22 left in the first half, ran the length of the court and finished with a layup to give North Texas a 41-27 advantage. North Texas finished the first half with a 43-29 lead. White was the fourth Mean Green player in double-figures with 13 points. He was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.

The Lions opened the second half by scoring eight of the first 12 points, including two 3-pointers, cutting the Mean Green lead to 10 points, 47-37. Damon Forest, who led the Lions with 19 points, put the Lions within seven points, 54-47, with a layup at 12:25. The Lions would stay within single-digits of the Mean Green, but North Texas would always stay at least six points ahead.

White put North Texas back ahead by 10 points, 67-57, with a layup at 1:29 left in the game to seal the win.

North Texas tied a season high, shooting 83 percent from the free-throw line. The Mean Green scored 20 points from the charity stripe, compared to the Lions’ 10.

The Lions held the edge in rebounding, 42-31, and second-chance points, 17-6.
