Details: Co-mingled curbside collection in bins.
Materials: Tin food and drink cans, aluminum and steel cans, plastic bottles (numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 – these numbers are found on the bottom of most plastic items inside a triangle), all colors of unbroken glass bottles and jars. Newspapers, phone books, magazines, catalogs and junk mail can be placed in the bottom of the recycle bin or in a paper bag next to the bin. Yardwaste recycling: The yardwaste recycling program takes flattened and bundled cardboard, yard debris (leaves and grass clippings in kraft yardwaste bags), and tree trimmings and limbs that are no longer than 4 feet in length, in bundles no larger than 2 feet tall and weighing less than 50 pounds. Drop-off center: BFI Recycling Center, 4200 E. 14th Street, Plano, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturdays only. The Custer Road Transfer Station at 9901 Custer Road is open Monday through Saturday (closed on major holidays) from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Transfer Station takes cardboard and large appliances for recycling; also used motor oil, used oil filters and antifreeze.
Household hazardous waste: The Household Hazardous Waste Program picks up unwanted household chemicals from Allen residents. Chemicals are collected by appointment only. Call the recycling coordinator to schedule a collection.

Materials: aluminum cans and clean baking tins; paint cans, empty and dry; glass bottles and jars in all colors, ceramics, china, mirrors small enough to fit in cart with lid closed and windowpanes (no auto glass); plastics #1-#7 (remove caps and lids and rinse.), clean plastic eating utensils; steel or tin cans and lids; aerosol cans; newspapers, catalogs and telephone books; magazines; junk mail and office paper (advertising circulars, white and colored paper and envelopes are accepted.); brown corrugated cardboard, cereal boxes, soda cartons, dry goods packaging, paperback books and paper bags. Drop-off center: 4100 Columbus Trail. What’s new or next?: As of March 31, 2003, yard trimmings will be picked up in paper yard bags on a weekly basis. Also, residents may call for pick-up of big trash and brush.

Details: Subscription curbside program with bins.
Materials: plastics #1-#5 and #7, newspapers, glass containers; steel, aluminum or tin cans. Drop-off center: Haltom City Transfer Station has bins for aluminum cans, steel cans, paper and plastic. They also take applicances (there must be a certificate that any freon has been removed). 2120 Minnis Drive, Haltom City. 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-noon Saturday.

Drop-off centers: City has no drop-off facility, but residents can use the Trinity Waste Municipal Recycling Center, 2550 Austin Road, Richland Hills. There are Abitibi Recycing bins for paper at Birdville Independent Schools.
Household hazardous waste: City owns mobile collection unit; save materials for next collection date, or contact the Environmental Services office at 817-427-6654.
