Bonny, a Cavalier King Charles spaniel, was found mutilated in a field across the road from his owners' home in Cross Roads.

On June 2, Bonny disappeared from his Cross Roads home where he lived with Suzanne and Brian Hunter. Suzanne Hunter found Bonny's mutilated body in a field across the street.

Brian Hunter remembered Bonny as a friendly dog who spent most of his time indoors. He had been let outside to go to the bathroom when he was abducted.

Brian Hunter said he has since learned of the reward being offered.

"We are flabbergasted," he said. "The one good thing is if his death helps by saving [the perpetrator’s] life by getting help or by saving someone else."

Brian Hunter also said that a couple who heard Bonny's story on the news recently gave them a King Charles spaniel named Callie. He said he initially thought it was too soon to adopt a new puppy, but Callie reminds them of Bonny.

"Nobody is ever going to replace him," he said.

Anyone with information about the Bonny's death should contact the Denton County Sheriff’s Office at 940-391-7329.
