Natsumi Gelato: A cool place for cold treats on Henderson
02:18 PM CDT on Thursday, June 5, 2008
When we visited, the freezer case held eight gelato and sorbet flavors (that number will grow during warm months). After sampling several of each, we were impressed with the intensity of the flavors, especially the pistachio gelato and the strawberry sorbet.
A frozen-yogurt machine dispenses two flavors daily – plain and a rotating flavor – sold individually or as a twist. We fell hard for the guava frozen yogurt, spooning it out of the twist to sample on its own. (The plain frozen yogurt proved too neutral.)
The store makes a great addition to this newly gentrified stretch of Henderson Avenue.
Prices are $3 for a small (which is a generous serving) and $5 for a large. Hours are noon to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Natsumi, 2323 N. Henderson Ave. (at Capitol Avenue, near Capitol Pub); Natsumiusa.com.
