Texas & Neighbors: Chihuahuas top dogs for Cinco de Mayo

The Cinco de Mayo Fiesta 2008 in downtown Shreveport, La., on May 2 and 3 features a Chihuahua race, a dance contest, musical entertainment and more.
The Chihuahua Challenge at noon on May 3 will reward the tiny dog with the fastest time. Other dog contests, such as Best Costume and Best Trick, are open to dogs of any breed.
The semifinals of the ¿Quieres Bailar? couples' dance-off are at 6 p.m. May 3. The finals will be May 10.
Regional performers include dancers, mariachis, bands, singers and more. Children's activities include cascarones, piñatas and storytelling.

The Frontier City theme park in Oklahoma City is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year by offering 50-cent admission to visitors who were born in 1958.
The discounted admission is available Monday through Friday and requires a photo ID. In addition, active military personnel and up to four family members can get in for 50 cents apiece each Monday with a current military ID.

Billed as the only in-water boat show in the Southwest, the Texas International Boat Show is bringing 500 boats to the Corpus Christi Marina Thursday through Sunday.
The boats, ranging in length from 10 to 110 feet, will include bay boats, sailboats, powerboats, luxury yachts, personal watercraft and more.
Also on tap are an aircraft display, an RV show, an exhibition of classic and exotic cars, a show of current cars and trucks, and a performance by wakeboarders.
