The Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce is keeping busy this summer. From June 29 to Friday, chamber staffers took time out from their packed schedules to head over to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport bright and early to meet the troops. Flights usually arrive around 8 a.m. in Terminal D. The chamber has supported the Welcome Home a Hero program since it started five years ago.
Up next for the chamber is a visit by Juan Sosa, president of the U.S. Panama Canal Council and former ambassador of Panama to the U.S. Sosa will talk about "The Future is Now" from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Las Colinas Country Club. The International Trade Development and Assistance Center and Irving Sisters Cities are sponsoring the program. To sign up, visit www.irvingchamber.com.
The Irving Democratic Club recently held a short meeting at the new south campus of North Lake College. President Sharon Barbosa ran the meeting. In addition to a few club members, attendees included Judges Carter Thompson, Theresa Tolle and Mike Snipes, and prosecutor John Carlough and Deputy Constable Charles Woertendyke. The club will not meet in July.
