Dallas County confirms two more West Nile cases
07:40 AM CDT on Thursday, October 29, 2009
Dallas County Health and Human Services confirmed the county's 15th and 16th human cases of West Nile virus on Wednesday.
Both patients are Dallas residents. The first patient, a resident in ZIP code 75216, remains hospitalized, officials said. The second patient, who lives in ZIP code 75214, was diagnosed with West Nile fever.
Neither patient was identified because of medical privacy issues.
Zachary Thompson, director of the county health department, said residents can avoid exposure to the virus by using insect repellants that contain DEET, draining standing water and dressing in long, loose and light-colored clothing at dawn and dusk.
To report mosquito activity or for more information, call 214-819-2115.
