Outside of club, Dallas Cowboys fans wait to buy season tickets
Season tickets for rest of stadium delayed as officials keep pitching prime section08:22 AM CDT on Monday, April 7, 2008
Dallas Cowboys fans who want to buy season tickets outside the pricey club section are still on hold.
Team officials say its sales force is too busy to deal with them.
Since November, team officials have been making sales pitches for the stadium's prime club section, where prices range between $16,000 and $150,000 per seat license, plus another $340 per game for tickets.
The $1.1 billion Arlington stadium will open for the 2009 season.
The 15,000 club seats were first offered to fans who have similar seats at Texas Stadium. At the end of February, they were offered to season ticket holders who have seats elsewhere in the iconic Irving facility.
And last week, fans on a Cowboys waiting list got their first shot at them.
Cowboys officials planned to reveal pricing for seats elsewhere in the stadium in late February or March. Team spokesman Brett Daniels says the sales team is too busy handling appointments for club seats to juggle sales for the rest of the stadium at the same time.
"We want to be able to roll those prices out when we're able to start working with those account holders," he said.
Pricing for the stadium's other 45,000 seats will be announced "in the near future," Mr. Daniels said.
The prices for club seats riled some longtime fans who argue they've been priced out of the market. Similar seats in Texas Stadium cost $129 last season.
Cowboys officials have said they knew going in that not all longtime fans would pay the steep prices. But they think there are plenty of fans who will.
Team owner Jerry Jones said in a news conference a few weeks ago that about 8,000 club seats had sold. Mr. Daniels declined to update that figure but said sales continue to be strong.
