Prosecutors have played titillating snippets of secret tapes.
Defense attorneys have painted their clients as well-meaning choirboys selectively prosecuted by FBI agents whose case relies heavily on a scorned developer out for revenge and to save his own hide.
Presiding U.S. District Judge Barbara Lynn has pulled out the white noise machine, a technological toy that hums like a small snow-cone machine and enables Lynn, with the push of a button, to effectively drown out the sidebar conversations she has with attorneys.
