NOTES
12:00 AM CST on Wednesday, November 29, 2006
Radio talk-show host Willis Johnson apparently likes being a political consultant. Carol Reed hired him to work the southern sector component of the successful campaign to get voter approval of the city's $1.35 million bond package. Now, Mr. Johnson will work with Ms. Reed on the mayoral campaign of Dallas businessman Tom Leppert. Elsewhere, veteran political consultant Kathy Nealy is expected to be instrumental in former Mayor Pro Tem Max Wells' mayoral bid. Ms. Nealy felt slighted when Ms. Reed didn't use her – as she normally does – for this year's bond campaign. So, the mayoral race should provide an entertaining sideshow.

Add the eccentric Jennifer Gale to a legion of candidates who want to become Dallas' next mayor. Ms. Gale, a homeless, jobless, transgendered political activist, says she plans to run in the Dallas race despite a string of failed bids for public office in Austin. She also ran for Dallas mayor in 1995 and Dallas City Council in 1993.

Former North Carolina senator and presidential contender John Edwards will be in town Friday for the 23rd annual Stephen Philbin Awards Luncheon sponsored by the Dallas Bar Association.
