Two Texas-based soldiers die in Iraq

Two soldiers stationed in Texas, one at Fort Hood and another at Fort Bliss, have been killed in Iraq.

Pfc. Jacob T. Tracy, 20 of Palestine, Ill., died Monday, in Balad of wounds suffered when a bomb detonated near his vehicle the day before in Baghdad, according to the Department of Defense.

He joined the military in August 2006 as an infantryman and was assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division since April, according to a statement on Friday from Fort Hood.

On Saturday, the Department of Defense said that Pfc. Raymond N. Spencer Jr., 23, of Carmichael, Calif., died Thursday in Baghdad of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked by insurgents using bombs and small arms fire.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Bliss, Texas.
