Tony Garza, former U.S. ambassador to Mexico, said Tuesday that he will join the ViaNovo LP consulting firm and serve as counsel in the Mexico City office of the White & Case law firm.

ViaNovo, which has offices in Austin, Dallas, Washington, Mexico City and Monterrey, Mexico, is a management and communications consulting firm. Garza said he will serve as chairman of ViaNovo Ventures, with a focus on cross-border business development.

White & Case has 34 offices in 23 countries, including several in Latin America, Garza said on his Web site, www.tonygarza.com.

Garza, a native of Brownsville, is former chairman of the Texas Railroad Commission and a former Texas secretary of state.

In April 2005, Garza married María Asunción Aramburuzabala, vice chairwoman of Grupo Modelo, the maker of Corona and Negra Modelo beers.
