You won’t have to go far to find fun for Independence Day
A healthy number of Denton County cities are stepping up this weekend for Fourth of July festivities.
Denton, Lake Dallas and Sanger are making major productions out of the day, and nobody will have to walk far to find good times.
Denton’s annual Fourth of July Jubilee very possibly offers the fattest lineup of them all, with a parade, a fun run, a children’s carnival, live music, the traditional handmade boat race, a brunch for seniors, and a fireworks show at dusk.
The parade begins in the Hickory Street parking lot of Wells Fargo Bank, and participation is open to anyone possessing a bicycle, tricycle, stroller or another set of wheels — or two walking feet.
The parade, like many of the day’s events, is limited to the downtown area — but the fireworks show, sponsored by the Denton Kiwanis Club, begins at 5:30 p.m. at the University of North Texas Fouts Field.
