Tuesday's Texas Rangers game highlights
Baltimore 8, Rangers 111:57 PM CDT on Tuesday, April 8, 2008
BALTIMORE SECOND
Third baseman Scott Moore, getting his first start of the season after a hectic travel day, homered on a 1-2 pitch. Brian Roberts' single scored Adam Jones, who had doubled.
Baltimore 2, Rangers 0
BALTIMORE THIRD
Aubrey Huff led off with a single and Luke Scott followed with a homer on a 2-0 pitch.
Baltimore 4, Rangers 0
BALTIMORE SIXTH
A two-out error by Ian Kinsler extended the inning. Kevin Millar followed with a single and Huff doubled off the top of the fence in right. It was originally called a homer, but after the Rangers disputed it, Huff was sent back to second. Both runs, however, scored.
Baltimore 6, Rangers 0
RANGERS SEVENTH
Kinsler, who had made four outs in his previous two at-bats, singled to score David Murphy.
Baltimore 6, Rangers 1
BALTIMORE EIGHTH
Huff's two-out, two-run single was his fourth hit of the game, tying his career high. Huff, who walked in his other plate appearance, had four RBIs.
Baltimore 8, Rangers 1
Great debaters (Fair): Marlon Byrd and Ron Washington persuaded the umpiring crew to change a call from a home run to double with a sixth-inning plea.
Bears (Foul): Baylor alums Jason Jennings and David Murphy had poor home debuts. Jennings was chased before the end of the fifth; Murphy struck out with the bases loaded to end the fourth.
Pomp (Fair) : The simplicity and elegance of a baseball home opener makes it perhaps the most thoroughly enjoyable of any pro sports event. And flyovers rock.
