Happy returns (fair): Lefty Eddie Guardado pitched for the first time since his shoulder stiffened up Monday. He has not allowed a run in his last seven appearances.
Streaking (fair): Ian Kinsler extended his hitting streak to 16 games with a single to lead off the game. The Rangers have had three hitting streaks of at least 16 games this season.
Consonants (foul): 14 letters and not a "K" to be found in "Saltalamacchia." He's got plenty in his stats line, though, including six consecutive games with at least two strikeouts.
