Dallas Mavericks week in review
01:15 AM CST on Monday, January 7, 2008
One word sums up the last few days for the Mavericks.
Atonement.
The Mavericks won't pick up the championship trophy they played for 1 ½ years ago, when they lost to Miami in the Finals. The humiliation of being knocked out of the playoffs by a No. 8 seed remains.
But the Mavericks showed they can beat Golden State at its own, high-powered game with a convincing 121-99 win over the Warriors. They followed that two days later with a sluggish yet ultimately successful game against the Heat.
And Sunday's win over the league's worst team? Well, the Mavericks didn't atone for any recent failures there.
But it was a nice way to keep the team's momentum moving in the right direction.
