Dallas Mavericks at Orlando Magic preview
6 p.m. Monday (FSNSW; ESPN-FM 103.3 FM, KFLC-AM 1270 in Spanish)10:05 PM CST on Sunday, February 3, 2008
Riding a five-game winning streak, the Magic starts a five-game homestand tonight. Howard has been a monster all season, with nine 30-point, 15-rebound games, giving him a chance to break the franchise record owned by some guy named Shaquille. ... The Magic has hit at least five 3-pointers in all 49 of its games this season, the only team to do so. ... Hedo Turkoglu is averaging 25 points in the last four games. ... Dirk Nowitzki had to work hard for what he got Sunday but should find easier going tonight against Turkoglu or Rashard Lewis.
Over the last five games, he's hit 27-of-69 shots (39.1 percent). Considering he's usually a 38 percent shooter from 3-point range, he's due to break out of the slump. ... Jason Terry started Sunday's game 1-of-8, and it just didn't get much better the rest of the way. ... The Mavericks shot 29.3 percent in the first half Sunday and found out how tough the East can be.
Mavericks: Jerry Stackhouse (right hamstring) is day-to-day. Devin Harris (left ankle) is out.
Magic: Tony Battie (left shoulder) is out.
