Record: 24-8

No. 12 seed, Oklahoma City Region

First-round matchup: vs. No. 5 Notre Dame (23-8), 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Ind.

Outlook: SMU hopes to add to an already-impressive season after beating UTEP, 73-57, in the Conference USA tournament championship game. SMU beat UTEP for the first time in three tries this season to claim its first conference title since 2000.

Notre Dame enters the tournament as one of a record-tying eight teams representing the Big East Conference. Notre Dame has been shaky in its last two games, though, shooting a combined 28 percent (37-of-133) in losses to Pittsburgh and St. John's. Charel Allen (14.5 points) leads Notre Dame in scoring.

Janielle Dodds is SMU's top scorer, averaging 15 points per game. Dodds has accounted for 1,846 points and 969 rebounds for her career, both program records.

SMU's 24 victories this season are the most in school history.
