Recruiting buzz: Newcomer hits hot list
09:38 PM CDT on Wednesday, April 9, 2008
Keller Central wide receiver Jarrod Duncan is the latest junior to become a hot topic in recruiting circles.
Duncan already has offers from Minnesota, North Carolina and Texas Tech. And he told Orangebloods.com recently that Texas considers him to be its No. 2 receiving prospect.
Duncan did say that Longhorns coaches have told him they only plan to take one receiver for their 2009 class. So Duncan said the three schools that have offered him are his favorites.
Duncan (6-5, 208) is an intriguing prospect because of his height. He had 46 receptions for 739 yards and 14 touchdowns last season.
South Oak Cliff safety Kevin Brent (6-0, 205) made a surprise visit to Oklahoma, according to OUESPN.com.
Brent, one of the nation's top safety prospects, told the Web site that he doesn't have a favorite at this point. He lists Oklahoma, Texas, LSU, Texas Tech and Kansas as his favorites. Brent indicated he would like to have a decision made by August.
Add Nebraska to the list of schools that have offered Plano running back Rex Burkhead, who closes in on 20 offers. Some of the other schools that have offered Burkhead are LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, TCU, Louisville, Minnesota, Cal, Stanford, Arizona, North Texas, Tulsa, Wisconsin and Kansas. ... Adamson safety Roderick Goodlow (6-2, 200) picked up his first two offers from Northwestern and Kansas. That list should grow when he competes at the upcoming Nike combine in Fort Worth.
