DeSoto lineman picks SMU

12:26 AM CDT on Saturday, June 28, 2008

DeSoto lineman Chris Atchison said he has orally committed to SMU. Atchison chose SMU over offers from Notre Dame, Arizona, Houston, Oklahoma State and Tulsa.

Atchison said he will either play on the offensive or defensive line. He was primarily a left tackle last year, but he has played every position on the offensive line in his three seasons on varsity.

Other commitments include South Grand Prairie's Dewayne Peace to Michigan; Mansfield Timberview wide receiver Aaron Burks to Boise State; Seagoville defensive back Ezedrick Evans to Louisville; and Mabank quarterback Kolton Browning to Louisiana-Monroe.

Oral commitments are nonbinding. The earliest football recruits can sign national letters of intent is February.
