Texas A&M lands highly-rated guard

Naji Hibbert, a 6-6 guard from DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Md., said Monday he has orally committed to Texas A&M.

Hibbert, rated 47th nationally for the Class of 2009 by ESPN.com, averaged 17.1 points, 6.3 rebound and 4.0 assists per game last season. He's the first player coach Mark Turgeon has landed for the 2009 recruiting class. Hibbert said he chose A&M over several ACC schools. Oral commitments are nonbinding. The earliest he can sign is November.
