Baseball: Oklahoma State 3, Texas Tech 2

STILLWATER, Okla. – Jordy Mercer hit the game-winning single as Oklahoma State edged Texas Tech 3-2 in a Big 12 Conference game on Friday.
The Cowboys (36-13, 15-7 Big 12) and Red Raiders were tied 2-2 when Mercer singled up the middle in the bottom of the eighth inning to score Luis Flores.
Mercer then put on his relief pitcher hat, allowing just one hit in the ninth inning to pick up his eighth save of the season.
Texas Tech (21-27, 6-16) took a 1-0 advantage in the first inning when Joey Kenworthy's single brought Willie Rueda home. Oklahoma State answered in the next inning with an RBI from Thomas Belza and took a 2-1 lead in the third when Donnie Webb scored on a throwing error by Texas Tech shortstop Chris Hall.
The Red Raiders tied the game in the sixth on Doug Thennis' sacrifice fly.
Robbie Weinhardt (5-0) won the game for Oklahoma State, allowing one hit and no runs in the eighth inning.
James Leverton (1-3) took the loss, allowing two hits and one run in 1 2-3 innings for Texas Tech.
