Big 12 women show their force
05:55 PM CDT on Friday, March 28, 2008
The Big 12 became the first conference to post an 8-0 record in the first round of the NCAA Women's Tournament. We're learning that it will take a monumental effort to knock any one of them out.
Oklahoma State's Danielle Green (23 points) kept the Cowgirls in it against Florida State. Then in overtime, Lincoln's Andrea Riley knocked down a free throw with 0.7 seconds left to capture a 73-72 victory.

Tuesday's previews
Hartford never really had a chance against Texas A&M. Danielle Gant and Morenike Atunrase got the Aggies poured it on from start to finish in a 63-39 victory.
Baylor and Iowa State were both denied a Sweet 16 trip, but look at how they were eliminated.
Pittsburgh hit four pressure-packed free throws to eliminate the Lady Bears. Rutgers, a No. 2 seed, could never really put Iowa State away until the home stretch. The Cyclones kept firing from 3-point range before finally succumbing.
The Big 12 is making some serious waves, but the league has to keep it going as the second round continues today. Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Kansas State all can punch their Sweet 16 tickets. Don't expect any of them to go quietly.
For the Big 12, March madness is just getting cranked up.
