For the last five years, Texas Golf's most beautiful holes haven't changed much. Maybe it's just that these holes get prettier with age. Only two holes cracked the list for the first time. One is the par-4 No. 5 at Spanish Oaks in Bee Cave. The tee shot on the 409-yard hole (from the tips) requires accuracy to an elevated fairway which drops off steeply on the right side. The other, the par-3 ninth hole at Cliffs at Possum Kingdom in Graford, also causes knees to buckle on the tee box for those who hit a fade. Possum Kingdom Lake awaits hundreds of feet below to swallow errant tee balls. It seems that if you want to play most of the best-looking holes in the state, you need to book a weekend trip to Austin and Trinity. And a quick trip to Walden wouldn't be a bad idea, either. Seven holes are from courses near the state capital. Barton Creek Fazio Foothills had four holes that made the list – two par-4s, a par-3 and a par-5. Whispering Pines, Texas Golf's No. 1 course for the third consecutive year, also had four of the most beautiful holes in the state.
