3. Manny Legace, St. Louis: The Stars created some pretty good scoring chances, and Legace never let them get going.

1st: Dallas was on its heels early as Sergei Zubov took a hooking penalty six minutes in, and the Blues scored two seconds after the power play had expired. Brad Boyes ripped a one-timer, and the puck was tipped by Stars forward Jeff Halpern and fluttered past goalie Mike Smith. St. Louis added to its lead at the 14:22 mark when Paul Kariya scored on a one-timer. It was Kariya's 12th goal this season and his fourth in two games against the Stars.

St. Louis 2, Stars 0

2nd: Mike Ribeiro closed the gap to 2-1 with his 22nd goal of the season. After Antti Miettinen made a great no-look pass to set up Trevor Daley for a slap shot from the right side of the slot, Ribiero poked in a high rebound. But Kariya found Keith Tkachuk alone for an easy tap-in. Boyes then came up with his second goal of the game and 23rd of the season when David Perron fed him on a 2-on-1 after Matt Niskanen drove to the net and the Stars had only one defender back.

St. Louis 4, Stars 1

3rd: Legace closed the door as the Stars put on a big push. He stopped a Halpern deflection and a Daley rebound attempt, as well as a Brenden Morrow shot. Dallas scored on a 5-on-3 with 1:31 left when Miettinen lifted a shot into an open net. However, the Stars couldn't get any more, even when they pulled Smith.
