Three stars

1. Marty Turco, Stars: The Stars probably shouldn't have survived the first period. Turco again was excellent early.

2. Mike Ribeiro, Stars: His two assists were just the boost the Stars needed to believe they could win.

3. Brenden Morrow, Stars: He helped start the comeback with some big hits and a Brett Hull-like one-timer.

Game highlights

First period: The Oilers, fresh off a 3-0 loss, came out with fire in their eyes and out-shot the Stars, 17-5 in the first period. Edmonton scored at the 5:12 mark on a hard-working shift by Zack Stortini, Kyle Brodziak and Geoff Sanderson. Sanderson kept the puck in a couple of times. Brodziak fired a shot that ricocheted off Brenden Morrow's chest and Stortini followed up with a long rebound shot to make the score 1-0.

Second period: Dallas started the second period with a 5-on-3 power play but struggled to even get a shot on net. That looked to take a ton of steam out of the Stars, but Dallas eventually started to gain momentum with a few strong shifts. Mike Ribeiro fed Brenden Morrow in the slot and Morrow nailed a one-timer to tie the game at the 7:16 mark. The Stars then earned another 5-on-3 and this time capitalized when Jarrett Stoll broke his stick. Stephane Robidas scored on the power play on a one-timer off a cross-ice pass from Ribeiro.

Stars 2, Edmonton 1

Third period: The Stars took control of the game as they played a smart third period, and the Oilers just kept taking penalty after penalty. Dallas cashed in when Jussi Jokinen scored at the 11:23 mark to make it 3-1. It was Jokinen's 12th goal of the season. Dallas had its second unit on the ice, and Antti Miettinen made a great fake shot and pass across the slot and Jokinen slapped in the one-timer. The Oilers tried to forge a comeback with some strong physical play, but Marty Turco held them off the scoreboard until Steve Ott added an empty-netter.
