1. Antti Miettinen, Stars: Two sweet moves gave him two sweet goals and a career-high 12.

2. Mike Smith, Stars: Came through in the third when Stars were outshot 10-2 at one point.

3. Jamal Mayers, Blues: Blues checker ended up goal and assist and was plus-2.

First period: Dallas didn't wade into the game, instead bringing good energy and standing up to St. Louis' physical play. Brenden Morrow scored on the Stars' first power play, slipping in a shot from distance on a hard angle to the left of the goal. It was Morrow's team-leading 24th goal of the season.

Stars 1, St. Louis 0

Second period: The Stars started to take control, thanks in large part to shaky goaltending by Blues starter Hannu Toivonen. Jussi Jokinen slipped in a shot from the point that somehow deflected in off of Toivonen's paddle, and Mike Ribeiro made it 3-0 when he scored on a sizzling power-play one-timer from the right circle. St. Louis finally broke through with two goals on Mike Smith, who saw his shutout streak end at 94 minutes. But Antti Miettinen gave the Stars some breathing room when he turned Blues defenseman Eric Brewer around and slipped a shot between the legs of Toivonen.

Stars 4, St. Louis 2

Third period: While St. Louis mounted a solid comeback attempt, Dallas laid back and scored on the only two shots it had in the first 15 minutes of the third period. Jere Lehtinen tallied his eighth goal of the season – the Stars' third power-play goal of the game – on a slick redirection of a Trevor Daley pass. Miettinen finished out the scoring when he blasted in a big shot from the right wing.
