Thursday's Dallas Stars game highlights
01:25 AM CDT on Friday, April 4, 2008
1. Joel Lundqvist, Stars: Played key role in first two goals.
2. Brenden Morrow, Stars: Goal and an assist.
3. Johan Holmqvist, Stars: Got over a big mental hurdle and held on for win.
1st: Johan Holmqvist received only his second start in a Stars uniform and looked much better than he did March 15, when he allowed three goals on 12 shots and was pulled after one period against Vancouver. Homlqvist had eight saves, while Ilya Bryzgalov had 11 at the other end of the ice.
Stars 0, Phoenix 0
2nd: Dallas continued its second period magic as it scored three times and took control of the game. Matt Niskanen got things started on the power play, whipping a one-timer through a Joel Lundqvist screen. Stephane Robidas scored on the power play off a Lundqvist assist, and Brenden Morrow stole a puck from Keith Ballard and flicked a shot between the pads of Bryzgalov with a minute left.
Stars 3, Phoenix 0
3rd: Phoenix made a spirited comeback as Daniel Carcillo won a fight with Krys Barch, Enver Lisin scored on a nice toe drag and Ballard scored short-handed to cut the lead to 3-2. Dallas held on, and Mike Modano scored an empty-netter.
Stars 4, Phoenix 2
