First period: Dallas gave up the first goal for the 41st time this season. They were 19-19-8 heading into the game when allowing the first goal. Daniel Carcillo walked down the slot for Phoenix and whipped a shot past Turco's glove at the 2:51 mark. Dallas tied the score on a great play by Steve Ott, who accepted a pass with his skates and fed Trevor Daley in front of the net.
Stars 1, Phoenix 1
Second period: Phoenix scored with the man advantage, and Dallas scored short-handed. Mike Modano turned the puck over, leading to Carcillo's second goal. Sixty-one seconds later, Philippe Boucher took a pass from Stu Barnes and scored short-handed. Martin Hanzal then tallied the game-winner when he was sprung by Zbynek Michalek for a breakaway and he put a shoulder fake on Turco.
Phoenix 3, Stars 2
Third period: Dallas carried the play, but goalie Mikael Tellqvist was up up to the challenge, stopping a number of scoring chances and handling all sorts of activity in front of the net. Carcillo then finished off his hat trick with an empty-netter.
